Determine the type of bed frame and the riser needed to fit over the legs of the bed. A metal bed frame may need to use a different type of riser than a frame made out of wood, in that frame legs might be shaped differently and so must the type of riser. Metal frames generally use oblong shaped risers made of metal or plastic and usually come in black and brown. Risers for wooden frames usually are shaped like blocks to fit wooden bed frame legs. Also decide how many inches the frame should be lifted. Risers can be found in different sizes, lifting frames off the ground from 3 to 5 inches.
Shop around for bed risers. Bed risers can be found in department stores, home improvement stores and the like. Anywhere that deals with the sale of bed-related products such as mattresses, bedding and bed frames should carry bed risers in packs of four. There are also several sites online that deal partially or exclusively with the sale of bed risers. Search for colors that match the bed frame, and make sure to choose risers that will fit on or over the leg of the bed.
Place a riser next to one leg of the bed frame and lift the corner of the bed off the floor, high enough to be able to slide or fix the riser under the raised leg. Lower the leg once the riser is in place. This may call for two people, one to raise the edge of the bed and another to mount the riser, especially if the bed is exceptionally heavy. Repeat this step with all corners of the bed. Use only two of the four raisers to raise one end of the bed if desired.
