How to Hang a Queen Size Headboard

A fantastic headboard is an easy way to make a statement in a bedroom. Often, there is not enough room in the bedroom for a complete bed set, or your current frame is not tall enough to create additional storage under the bed. By mounting the headboard on the wall, you can set the height you want for the bed, keep the headboard from rubbing the wall or create your own headboard to match your current decorating scheme.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide how high you want the headboard to be. Make a small mark on the wall in pencil for the top edge of the headboard.

    • 2

Measure the width of your headboard and keep the tape measure extended to that width. Have an assistant hold the tape measure to the correct width.

    • 3

Make a level line with the laser level on the mark for the height of the headboard and have your assistant make a mark on the laser line at the width of the headboard.

    • 4

Install the wall mounts at each mark by placing one side of the wall mount on the wall 12 inches from the mark of the width of the headboard. Center the wall mount and mark the location of each screw hole. Move to the other side of the bed and repeat.

    • 5

Drill a pilot hole at each screw location.

    • 6

Line the wall mounts up with the pilot holes and attach to the wall with screws.

    • 7

Turn the headboard so the back side is facing upwards.

    • 8

Measure and mark 12 inches from each side onto the backside of the headboard along the top edge.

    • 9

Center a wall mount on the 12-inch mark and note the location of the screw holes on the back of the headboard.

    • 10

Drill a pilot hole at each screw location and attach the mounting bracket to the backside of the headboard.

    • 11

Lift the headboard with a partner and slide the bracket on the backside of the headboard onto the wall mount installed on the wall on each side of the headboard.
