What Furniture Color for Bedrooms That Are Painted Gray?

Gray walls give the decorator a wide variety of color options to choose from. Gray is considered a neutral color and comprised of equal parts of the three primary colors: red, yellow and blue. The final color combinations often are determined by the individual tastes and can vary from person to person.
  1. Black

    • Black is actually the end of the color gray on the spectrum. Ebony furniture or extremely dark-hued furniture blend well with gray walls. Dressing the bed with contrasting colored linens such as red or yellow adds a highlight that brightens the overall look of the room. Accent that with upholstery on the chairs that blends the combination of red, black and gray or yellow, black and gray for a complete color scheme.

    Mahogany

    • Mahogany furniture has a warm look to it that brings out the depth of color in darker colors and blends well with shades of gray. Darker colors such as hunter green, navy or wine complement mahogany furniture and provide a nice balance of color between walls and content. Add the appropriate bed linens in a blend of these colors, or choose a single one so the room can come together.

    Oak

    • Oak is such a versatile wood that its light color blends with most any colored wall and scheme. Gray walls, carved oak headboard and oak chairs lend themselves to floral patterns, plaids or stripes. Bright color schemes that use orange, purple and green work nicely with shades of oak. Place stripes and plaids together to add some contrast to mix things up a bit and to add some flair.

    White

    • White furniture seems like a basic must-have for a little girl’s bedroom with light gray walls and a pink canopied bed. Don’t overdo the white or the ruffles, and add some contrast to the pink with a little bit of light blue or purple. Gray and pink seem to be a design standard, so it is nice to fall back to the tried and true.
