How to Identify a Lane Dresser

John Lane and his son, Ed Lane, started making cedar chests back in 1912. They expanded to tables, dressers and other casegoods in the 1950s. Today, their company is known as Lane Home Furnishings. With the quality of materials and designs used to create Lane dressers, it is likely you could find one that is more than 50 years old. You will want to ensure that your dresser was crafted by Lane. Fortunately, identifying your Lane dresser is quick and easy.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the top right drawer of the dresser. Look for the word "Lane" or a model number.

    • 2

Turn the dresser around. On the back panel, bottom corner, should be the word "Lane" or a model number.

    • 3

Call a local Lane furniture dealer and give them the model number. You can do this by going to the Lane furniture website and clicking on "Contact us." Give them the model number you found and they will tell you if you have a real Lane dresser.
