Many homes will have standard sized doors that will allow you to pull a queen-size box spring through them. First, remove all of the bedding or bed skirts from the box spring. This will help the queen box spring slide through the door and will keep your bedding from getting torn and dirty.
Grab one end of the box spring and have your friend grab the other. You should each be holding onto a short edge opposite to each other. Place the box spring on its long edge.
Place the bottom edge of the box spring at the bottom right side of the doorway and place the top edge of the box spring at the upper left corner of the doorway. Most box springs will then slide through the door.
Lay the queen box spring upside down on the floor. Find the middle of the long edge of the box spring and cut the dust cover from one side to the other. This will make a line parallel to the two short edges. Saw through the wood slats along the middle line. Carefully avoid damaging the springs.
Push both ends of the queen box spring together without damaging or bending the springs too much. Wrap a rope around the bent box spring and tie it to keep it from opening again. Immediately move the queen box spring through the door to its final destination and untie the rope. The longer the box spring stays tied the more damaged the springs will be.
Lay the box spring upside down on the floor and push the middle together so that it is flat again. Reposition the springs that have warped.
Screw four 5-inch pieces of wood to connect the middle sides of the box spring where you made the cut. This will help secure the cut so that the queen box spring stays flat. Staple the dust cover back on the wood.
