Unique Themed Beds for Girls

Little girls love theme beds. Give your daughter a bed that will stir her imagination as she slips off to dreamland. Following are four theme bed ideas that transcend the cliche of the "Little Princess."
  1. Alice's Tea Party

    • Choose a white four-poster bed with thick posts. Mount the top of each post with a silly teapot, reminiscent of Alice's afternoon with the Mad Hatter. Fabric glued into the teapot spout gives the illusion that tea is being poured out. Secure the plastic teapots to the posts with a hot glue gun. Use bedding to match the color of the fictional heroine's dress. Finish off this look with pillows featuring the face of the Cheshire Cat.

    Laura Ingalls

    • Let her pretend to be a character from Laura Ingalls's classic, "Little House On the Prairie." Make her single-sized bed look like a covered wagon. Cover the mattress with canvas and slide plastic stripping into the bed sides to give the canopy its covered wagon look. Hang a battery-powered lantern inside the wagon bed. For fun, add wooden wheels to the sides of the bed. Use flour sack sheets and vintage pillowcases to give this bed an even more authentic prairie look.

    Magic Carpet Ride

    • Your little girl will dream of flying on her magic carpet bed. To build it, hang a board from the bedroom ceiling with chains. Make sure the chains are low enough to the floor so that your child will not hurt herself if she falls off the bed. Glue exotic looking carpet to the bottom of the board. Place a thin mattress on top of the board and cover it with richly colored sheets. Add long tassles to the corners to help create an 'Arabian Nghts' look.

    Candyland

    • Make your daughter's white, four-poster bed a vision of Candyland. Use white tulle netting to make clouds that seem to float above the bed. String gingerbread lights from the ceiling. Glue large wooden images of the Candyland game pieces to every bedpost. Paint an image of the Candyland game board on both the headboard and footboard. Give her a candy themed comforter set to complete this literally sweet little sleeping set.
