How to Hide a Mattress in a Cabinet

Mattresses that fold up into a cabinet are technically referred to as Murphy beds. Murphy beds fold up into the wall and are oftentimes concealed by a cabinet door covering. These types of beds are ideal for rooms that have limited space for large furniture such as beds. Many condos and hotel rooms feature them as well as some houses and apartments. The process to hide a mattress in a cabinet is relatively simple to do but caution must be executed.

Instructions

    • 1

Grasp the bottom edge of the bed frame that the mattress lies on and lift upward on it.

    • 2

Begin pushing forward on the frame when you have lifted the frame as high as it will go or as high as you can lift it. The bed should begin pushing up into the wall.

    • 3

Push the bed entirely into the space until it is flat and even within it. Then close the cabinet door to cover it.

    • 4

Place the bed's pillows, linens and blankets within a trunk or storage cube for easy access when you need to make the bed again.
