How do I Assemble Shermag Beds?

Shermag advertises its beds as easy to assemble. Each purchase of a bed includes all the necessary equipment to assemble the bed, including an Allen wrench. Even novice do-it-yourselfers can successfully assemble Shermag beds as long as they have a helper to hold parts in place for them.

Instructions

    • 1

Organize all parts. Each bed comes with a small bag containing all the parts needed to assemble your bed. Open the bag and lay out all the parts. Compare your parts to the manual's list of parts.

    • 2

Read the provided assembly directions. Reading over the directions before getting started will give you a good idea of the assembly process. The directions for Shermag beds are generally short and describe how to use the locking bolts included with the bed package.

Attach one railing to the headboard. Have a helper hold on to the railing bar. Insert the provided screw through the headboard into the railing. Attach the provided bolt to the end of the screw. Some Shermag bed models will require you to hold the bolt in place while you screw the screw into place using your Allen wrench. Other Shermag models will lock the screw and bolt together as you start twisting the screw. The best way to tell the difference between these two models of beds is by looking at the bolt. If there is a flathead line on the bolt, you will need to use a flathead screw driver to hold the bolt in place while screwing the screw with your Allen wrench.

Attach the second railing to the headboard. Using the technique that you used in Step 3, attach the second railing to the headboard using the provided screws and bolts.

Attach the footboard to both railings. Have your helper continue holding both railings while you attach each of them to the footboard using the screws and bolts provided. When both railings have been attached, work your way around the bed to tighten all the screws before adding your box spring and mattress.
