Measure the space at the head of the mattress for the headboard. The 8-foot-wide plastic fence panels must be attached to a fence post on either side; fence posts range from 1 1/2 to 4 inches wide. Privacy fence panels are 8 feet tall, but 4-foot-tall sizes are also available. Select the style of plastic fence panel that suits your bedroom design.
Use the stud finder to locate and mark the wall studs behind your bed that correspond to the fence post placement. If there are no studs in the appropriate section of the wall, you can use anchor screws to attach the wall brackets.
Attach one part of the wall bracket to each plastic fence post, 2 inches from the base and 2 inches from the top of the post. Attach the corresponding bracket sections to the wall to line up with those on the fence posts. Attach one fence post to the wall using the brackets.
Insert the fence panel into the attached fence post. Plastic fence panels have extended sections that fit into openings on the fence post.
Insert the second fence post to the other end of the fence panel. Attach the post to the wall brackets.
Position the bed in the center of the fence panel.
