How do I Assemble a Fortunoff Bed Frame?

Lay out the pieces to the frame face up on the floor. Place the frame in the location you designate as for your bed, in the shape of the bed. All pieces should be in their necessary places, meaning that the longer metal pieces that form the side of the frame should be placed on the sides of the bed. The shorter pieces, which form the top and bottom of the frame should be placed where the top and the bottom of the frame will be located.

Inspect the pieces to determine how they connect. Not all Fortunoff bed frames connect the same way. Depending on the age and type of frame, your frame might attach with screws or tabs attached to the frame. If your frame uses screws you will need to gather the necessary screwdriver. It is important to identify this aspect of the frame so that you will know how it attaches during assembly.

Attach the top of the frame to the left side of the bed. If the frame uses screws, insert the screws at the juncture of the two pieces, but only tighten them half-way. If your frame does not use screws, you will need to slide the two pieces together. Typically, the pieces attach by inserting the knob on the side piece through the hole and then slide the two pieces backwards to lock them in place.

Attach the bottom of the left side piece of the frame to the bottom piece of the frame. Attach them as required, either by sliding them together or inserting the screws and tightening them halfway.

Attach the middle support beam to the left side frame piece, if any. Here again, tighten the screws only halfway or connect the pieces by sliding them into place.

Attach the right side of the frame to the top of the bed. Do not worry if at this point your frame is not perfectly square.

Insert the middle support beam to the right side of the bed frame, if necessary. At this point your frame should be based evenly into a square.

Finally, attach the right side to the bottom piece of the frame. At this point your frame should be square. If your frame does not have a middle support beam, it might be not entirely square. Step back to see which way you need to shift the pieces so that the frame is square.

Tighten all screws as much as possible, if necessary. Then, attach the feet and middle support post, if any, to your frame. Your Fortunoff bed frame is now complete.
