Prepare to assemble your bed. Layout out the parts in the room the bed will occupy. Identify and separate the components. Put all hardware in a bowl. Check the packaging carefully for any loose parts you might have missed then move it out of your way.
Attach the side rails and center support, if included, to the headboard. Most Plummers' headboards come as a single piece. Ensure that the side rails are finished side out and that all hardware openings in the center rail face up. Gently tap all pieces in places with a rubber mallet. If needed, secure metal fasteners with a screw driver or Allen wrench. Some models, like the Atlantic bed, require you to attach padding to your headboard. Other models, like the Pisa and Sorrento models, use foot boards in place of legs.
Attach the legs to the foot board or lower cross piece with the fasteners provided. Most Plummers' beds are supported by the headboard and two legs. The legs usually attach with a combination of mortise and tenon joints and bolts.
Attach the side rails to the foot board or lower cross piece. In most cases the side rails also attach to the legs with a combination of mortise and tenon joints and bolts.
Install the slats by securing them to the side rails and centerpiece. All Plummers beds use slats to support the mattress. All sizes of the Bellmar Bed, for example, use ten slats that fasten to the side rails and center support.
