How do I Refurbish a White Bedroom Suit?

White bedroom furniture is elegant, classic and timeless. Unfortunately, white furniture is susceptible to staining and discoloration, and shows dings and scratches more than darker furniture. If you have a white bedroom set that is showing its age, consider refurbishing rather than replacing it. A little work can give your white bedroom furniture a beautiful new look.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove any hardware attached to the furniture. Sand the exterior surfaces of the furniture with a palm sander, creating a slightly grainy surface.

    • 2

Fill any dents with wood filler, following the manufacturer instructions. Select the lightest-colored wood filler available to make painting easier. Allow the wood filler to dry thoroughly, at least 12 hours.

    • 3

Apply an even coat of a white, glossy, latex spray paint to the furniture. Apply an additional coat once dry if necessary. Remember that multiple thin coats create a cleaner paint job than fewer, heavier coats.

Install updated handles and drawer-pulls on your furniture pieces. New, modern hardware is a simple and inexpensive way to bring older furniture up to date.
