• Before you buy a padded headboard, measure the width of the bed. Mattress width is usually standard: king-sized beds are 76 inches; queen, 60 inches; double, 54 inches; and twin, 38 inches. If the bed has a frame, it should also be measured. Affordability needs to be considered. Prices of padded headboards can be higher than standard ones, so keep your budget in mind when you shop.
