How to Hang a Canopy Twin Poster Bed

Canopy twin-size poster beds typically use circular rods installed over the bedposts to hold the canopy fabric in place. Some canopies may drape over the rods in loose loops, but the typical canopy with the bed style that uses circular rods will have a long tube of fabric sewn onto the material at the top to hold the rod. The tubes connect to the tops of the four posts. This type of canopy also hides the rod from view. All supplies come with the bed.

Instructions

    • 1

Spread the canopy out on the bed surface so that it is oriented in the correct direction, with the shorter sides facing the headboard and foot of the bed.

    • 2

Insert canopy rods, one at a time, into one end of the fabric tube along each top edge of the canopy. Slide each rod slowly through the tube, smoothing out fabric wrinkles as you push the rod, until the rod end appears on the other side.

    • 3

Raise the canopy by the two long rods with the help of a friend standing on the opposite side of the bed.

    • 4

Insert one end of a canopy rod into the mounting hole near the top of the bedpost, and hold the rod against the bedpost to prevent the rod from falling out.

    • 5

Flex the rod slightly in the middle to insert the other end of the rod into the mounting hole on the opposite bedpost, and then release the rod. Repeat this procedure with the remaining canopy rods.
