It is made with a special firmness control technology, which uses adjustable air pockets or chambers to allow you to control the firmness on each side of the bed with a remote control device. It has a ten-inch thick mattress and a plush European-style pillow top and five comfort zones. The 4000 model has been superseded and the new model is called the c4.

• The Sleep Number 5000 mattress is a pneumatic mattress from Select Comfort that has an eleven-inch thick pillow-top mattress. It allows you to individually control the firmness and comfort of each side if the mattress by changing the pressure in adjustable air chambers inside the mattress using one of two supplied remote controls. It has a two-inch layer of luxury foam in the pillow top for added comfort and comes with three comfort zones. It has been superseded and the new model is known as the p5 mattress.

Considerations

• Your weight is a primary consideration when choosing the comfort level of a mattress.
