One of the last steps in installing a new window is to install the molding around the window frame. To provide a clean, uniform edge around the perimeter of the frame, this is done by using miter cuts to cut the edges of the frame at a 45-degree angle. This is a basic woodworking skill that can be accomplished by a novice do-it-yourself homeowner.
