Make two cuts with a bench saw along the length of a 2-by-6 board that is 72 inches long. The first cut should be 2 inches deep along the edges of the board and the second cut is 3/4-inch deep. This forms a notch, or rebate, in the board to hold the window sash.
Cut the window frame board into four pieces with two pieces measuring 19 5/8 inches and the other two pieces measuring 15 5/8 inches. Make each cut at a 45-degree angle. Secure the corners together with wood glue, making a rectangle. Drive finishing nails into the corners to provide added strength.
Cut a single groove down the center of a 2-by-2 wooden board that is 64 inches long. Make the groove 1/2-inch deep and 1/8-inch wide. Slide the acrylic sheet or plastic glass into the groove to make sure it fits. Widen the groove if the acrylic sheet does not fit. Cut the board into four pieces at 45-degree angles. Two boards are 19 5/8 inches long and the other two boards are 15 5/8 inches long.
Lay the pieces together to form a rectangle and measure the inside area with a measuring tape. Cut the acrylic sheet 3/4 inch larger than the inside measurement. Place the acrylic sheet into the grooves and glue the corners of the boards together. Screw the corners together to add strength to the window sash.
Lay the window frame down with the rebate facing upward. Place the window sash into the rebate on the frame. Screw two T-hinges to the side rail of the sash and to the side of the window frame.
