How Do You Keep Screens From Falling Out in Anderson Windows?

Andersen is one of the leading manufacturers of windows, and they offer a variety of selections from which to choose. All Andersen windows come with either a full-size or half-size window screen. These are commonly called insect screens and are great for keeping bugs out of the house. The holes are so small that not even the smallest of insects can enter, but the home can still enjoy a great breeze. Keeping these screens from falling out is as simple as installing the screen and verifying that everything is properly latched and installed.

Things You'll Need

  • Insect screen
  • Insect screen latches
  • Latch tab
  • Insect screen pull

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the latch tab into the slot along the bottom rail of the window screen. Move the latch back and forth numerous times to make sure everything is working properly. Push it toward the center of the screen, and leave it there for installation.

    • 2

Unlock and completely open the window. Slide the insect screen through the opening, from the interior of the house. Push the upper part of the insect screen into the channel in the window frame, and pull the insect screen down into the bottom of the frame.

    • 3

Push the insect screen latches outward to secure the insect screen to the window. Move the insect screen around by pushing and pulling on it to make sure everything is secure. Inspect the screen latch to make sure it is installed correctly and is staying in place.

    • 4

Run your hands over the entire screen to check and make sure there are no gaps between the window frame and the screen. Gaps will cause the window screen to come apart easier when there are strong winds or if some type of force hits it.

    • 5

Check the window screen periodically to make sure the window latches are always installed and in good shape. Verify that they are holding the window properly in place and are firmly attached.
