Pull the blinds up all the way before beginning the removal process. This will make the blinds much more manageable.
Take down the valance. Gently push the bottom portion of the valance toward the window to create a small gap between the top of the valance and the top of the clips. Carefully move the valance upward and outward, at an angle, until it is completely clear of the clips. If you use too much force, the clips will break.
Remove the hold down brackets, used to attach the bottom portion of blinds to the wall. If the end caps of the bottom rail have hold down pins, remove them first. Then use a screwdriver to remove the hold down bracket screws. If the pins and screws are tight, use a pliers to remove the pins and a power screwdriver to remove the screws.
Open the mounting brackets from the front and slide the blinds' head rail out. This is the last removal step if you plan to put the blinds back up. You may need assistance during this step, especially if your blinds are wide and heavy. If you allow blinds to fall after removal, they can sustain damage or harm your floors.
Use a screwdriver to remove the side and center mounting brackets. Depending on how your blinds were installed, you may have to remove wall anchors as well. There are several types of wall anchors, but many can be removed with needle-nose pliers.
Patch the holes left by the screws that held the blinds in place. With a small putty knife, fill the holes and surrounding areas with joint compound. Using a sponge, smooth ridges while the compound is still wet, or gently sand the compound after it dries.
Paint over the joint compound to match the wall color. Depending on the color of paint you use, you may need to apply primer first.
