Indoor Window Shutters Types

A variety of people opt for interior window shutters, rather than traditional curtains or blinds. Interior window shutters enhance the home décor, offer privacy and controls sunlight. Home decorators adorn the home with fixed louvers, raised panels or vertical louvers that are either painted or stained.
  1. Wood Shutters

    • Some wooden shutters are made of maple, oak, cedar, pine and basswood. These types of wood shutters are more durable. Although you can find synthetic wood or faux wood shutters, these shutters may look similar to plastic and are less resistant to wear and tear than pure wooden shutters.

    Bi-fold Shutters

    • A four-panel shutter unit, consisting of two panels, refers to bi-fold shutters. The two panels fold together, resting either on the left or right side. Bi-fold shutters can also be two large panels connected by a hinge. To clarify the exactly type of bi-fold shutters, provide the number of panels and the pattern of the folds.

    Café Shutters

    • If you want to cover only the bottom of your window with shutters, you will need café shutters. The top part of your window is open. Other names for café shutters include shutterette or half-height shutters.

    Vinyl Shutters

    • The cheapest interior shutters are vinyl. Manufacturers mass-produce these shutters quickly using inexpensive materials. Vinyl shutters are hollow, opaque, resemble plastic; however, most are water resistant and durable.
