How to Make a Shower Curtain Rod for a Travel Trailer

If you purchased a used travel trailer, you may be looking for ways to spruce it up. Older travel trailers often lack certain amenities necessary for daily living while on the road. If the shower in your travel trailer doesn't have a curtain rod, you may find it difficult to find one in the appropriate length. This custom PVC curtain rod uses a simple tension method to hold it in place, so no drilling is necessary.

Things You'll Need

  • 1/2-inch PVC pipe
  • Spray paint
  • Hack saw
  • 2 rubber-end caps
  • Fine-grit sand paper

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the inside width of your shower stall carefully. Subtract 1/2 inch and cut your PVC pipe to this size with the hack saw. Lightly sand the ends of the pipe smooth.

    • 2

Take your PVC pipe outside or to a well-ventilated area. Spray a light, even coat of paint on the pipe. Let dry. Repeat for a second coat.

    • 3

Place the rubber caps on the ends of the pipe. Feed your pipe through your shower curtain rings. Fit your pipe at the desired height in your shower stall.
