Spray the window with glass cleaner. Wipe across the window with a soft cloth, removing any dust or debris from the glass. Let the windows dry.
Measure the height of the window. Lay the vinyl moldings flat and cut three pieces the same height as the window. One molding will run down the center of the window and one will run down each side, making the window look like a casement that opens in the middle. Measure the width of the window and cut four moldings the same width.
Set the vinyl moldings on old newspaper. Choose a metallic spray paint that will make the vinyl look like metal. Pick a traditional silver color or a rusty red for a more French-style look. Gently shake the spray paint and hold it six inches from the moldings. Apply an even coat of paint and once dry, turn over and spray the backs.
Arrange the vinyl molding pieces in a square fashion the same size as your window. Place the three longest pieces an equal distance apart with the shorter pieces crossing over the top. Run your utility knife through each piece, where the molding touches another molding.
Attach four corner connectors to the edges of the moldings, creating a box shape. Attach the other molding pieces to this frame with T-connectors on the sides, top and bottom. Use cross connectors on the other places where the vinyl touches.
Cut a hook and loop fastener into four equal-size pieces. Peel the backing off one fastener and place one side on the corner of your window and the second piece behind the corner piece on your vinyl moldings. Attach a fastener to each corner and gently press the new fake mullions onto the window.
