How to Paint a Tall Hallway With Smooth Walls

Tall hallways can make you feel as though you are living in a skyscraper without a ceiling. Instead of lowering your ceiling or hanging things from the ceiling, you can make the hallway look intimate with a little paint. The key is to use the same color for the walls and also paint the ceiling. The painted ceiling will integrate with the walls and make the hallway feel more cozy.

Instructions

Set up drop cloths around the floor. This is especially important since you’ll be painting the ceiling. Drop cloths should always be used instead of plastic, as the cloth absorbs and dries the paint so you don’t get any on your shoes.

Pour some primer into the paint tray and start painting. Begin with the ceiling and then paint the walls. Start at the top and work your way down. Let the primer dry completely.

Pour some paint into a clean paint tray and start painting the ceiling first then go to the walls. You’ll only need one layer of high gloss paint. Make sure that the paint dries completely before the hallway is used.
