Find the studs in the wall with the stud finder. Mark the location of the studs on the wall with a pencil.
Measure up from the floor with a tape measure and mark the wall at the required height. Draw straight line on the wall between the studs by using the level.
Cut along the line on the drywall with the drywall saw. Cut down the side of each stud and remove the cut piece of drywall. Sand the sides of the drywall flush with the studs by using the sandpaper.
Measure the width and height of the opening. Transfer these measurements to a sheet of birch plywood. Cut the birch plywood to these measurements with the table saw.
Attach two to three European hinges one edge of the cut piece of plywood with the power drill. Set the hinged side of the plywood against the opening in the wall. Secure the hinges to the side of a wall stud.
Measure and cut pieces of the birch plywood to use as shelving. Attach the shelving pieces to the studs with screws by using an L-bracket.
