How to Paint a Baby's Room With Semi Gloss

A baby can bring a lot of excitement to a home. One of the things you might do to prepare -- prior to the birth of your little one -- is paint the nursery. Once the paint is on the walls you can then decorate the room. Semi-gloss paint is often used for children’s rooms. This is because semi-gloss paint is wipeable and easy to clean. Painting with semi-gloss is no different than painting with another finish of paint.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose and purchase a paint color and type. Match the paint color to bedding or other décor items in the room. Choose a semi-gloss finish.

    • 2

Cover the floors with drop cloths. Protect outlets and hardware in the room with painters tape.

    • 3

Paint around the edges of the room with a paintbrush. Pour a small amount of paint into a can or small tray. Dip the paintbrush into the paint in the can. Steadily run a line of paint along the edges of the wall. This will reach the areas of the wall that a paint roller cannot reach without getting paint in unwanted places.

Paint the main area of the wall with a paint roller. Apply the paint in a “W” on the wall. By applying the paint in a "W" shape, you will spread the paint evenly over the wall. This helps you to avoid having bare spots or streaks in the painting. Repeat until you get good coverage on the wall.

Let the walls dry before hanging pictures or curtains.
