Wash any dirt or debris from the bricks using a pressure washer against the brick surface. Clean the walls from the top down, taking care not to direct the stream from the washer against the windows of the structure. Allow the brick surface to dry for about six hours to avoid thinning the dye later with retained moisture.
Cover the house trim, windows and doors with masking paper held in place with masking tape to prevent tinting them.
Fill an airless sprayer reservoir with a pigmented sealer dye, using a dye of the color you wish to tint your bricks. Turn on the sprayer to the medium setting and hold the nozzle of the sprayer about 12 inches from the brick wall.
Aim the nozzle at the top of the bricks and then trigger the sprayer to begin spraying the bricks with the dye. Spray in a line across the brick surface, maintaining the 12-inch distance from the brick wall as you go along and keeping the spray coverage even. Move downward once you reach the end of the row and spray an overlapping row going the opposite direction, overlapping the first by 50 percent until you reach the starting point.
Continue spraying the dye onto the brick wall in overlapping rows, moving constantly downward until you reach the base of the bricks. Move on to the next wall and repeat the process until you’ve applied the dye to the entire house.
Allow the dye to dry overnight and then inspect the tinted color the next day. If the color requires more depth, repeat the coverage process to add more color to the bricks. Otherwise, remove the masking paper and tape from the windows, doors and trim.
