Hook the tape measure to a stud and stretch it over two additional studs. Check that the third stud is 48 inches away from stud that the tape measure is hooked to.
Transfer the measurement to the panel if the measurement is less than 48 inches. Snap a line lengthwise across the face of the panel with a chalk box. Adjust the circular saw's cutting depth to cut 1/8 inch deeper than the panel material. Cut the snapped line with the circular saw.
Measure the stick frame height with a tape measure. Transfer the measurement to the paneling if the stick framing is less than 8 feet high. Snap a straight line across the width of the paneling and cut it with the circular saw.
Hold the cut or uncut panel vertical lengthwise on the stick frame wall. Adjust the panel to the left or right so that its outside edges are centered on the outside studs they make contact with; this will leave backing for the next panel when you center paneling on a stud.
Hammer 6d brad nails through the upper and lower corners of the panel and into the studs to secure the panel into place. Place the tapered end of a nail set tool on the brad nail head. Tap the back side of the nail set tool with a hammer to set the nail heads slightly below the paneling material.
Hammer another 6d brad nail every 8 inches following the stick framing that is located behind the panel. Set each brad nail head below the panel surface using the nail set tool.
Continue installing each panel until the stick framing is completely paneled.
