Determine where the studs are inside the chosen wall with a stud finder. Upon finding the studs, mark their location with a pencil.
Position the metal wall brackets against the wall on top of the pencil marks. Place a level across the top of the brackets and along the outer edges of the brackets to ensure they are positioned evenly.
Insert a 2-inch wood screw through each of the holes on the back of the metal brackets. Drill the screws into the wall, securing the brackets in place.
Attach the shelf brackets into the slits on the back of the each of the wall brackets. Place the brackets so that they are even with one another on each wall bracket.
Place the shelves on top of the shelf brackets.
