How to Repair Stained Concrete

Nothing looks worse than a bad stain on your concrete pad, whether it be an oil spill or dirt. This not only ruins the look of the concrete, but it also reduces the value of everything surrounding it. However, contrary to common belief, concrete stains can be removed with the right process and tools.

    • 1

Thoroughly wash the stained area with a power washer and soap. Get the surface as clean as possible so that the stain is completely uncovered.

    • 2

Remove any objects that are blocking access to the stain. Make the area clear and try to give yourself plenty of room to work.

    • 3

Take a citric acid cleanser mix and mop over the stain. Make sure that it is completely covered with the cleanser. Give the mix around half an hour or so to soak completely into the concrete stain.

    • 4

Mop up the cleanser using disposable, old towels. The stain should have been almost entirely brought up by the acid. Mop the surface until it is mostly dry.

    • 5

Once the surface has dried, apply a clear-coat concrete protectant to the entire concrete pad. This will prevent another stain from happening and keep your concrete looking like new for years to come.
