     Pull all objects in your dining room away from the walls. Do not try to measure around them; you might not get accurate results.

     Measure the length of the room using a tape measure. Record the number. Measure the width of the dining room, and write down that number, as well.

     Multiply the width of the room by the length to get the square footage for rectangular and square rooms.

     Divide the result by two if you want the square footage of a triangular room.
