How to Install Dupont Laminate Flooring

DuPont laminate flooring is one of the top quality laminate flooring brands on the market. There is an extensive assortment of styles and colors available, from hardwood to ceramic and natural stone tile. DuPont designed this product with the exclusive InterPlank Design which allows the seams to be practically invisible. DuPont also adheres the underlayment to each plank to increase the comfort of the flooring underfoot, and to reduce the amount of labor required to install the product.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the existing flooring to expose the wood or concrete subfloor. Laminate can be installed over hardwood flooring if you would like.

    • 2

Remove all of the baseboards, quarter round, and other floor moldings with a Wonder Bar or Super Wonder Bar. Undercut the door jambs with an undercut saw so the laminate flooring can be installed underneath them.

    • 3

Measure the width of the room and divide the measurement by 12 inches. If the remainder is 2-1/2 inches or less, trim the first row of planks on the tongue side (the side with the narrowest lip) so the width of the planks on both sides of the room is roughly equal. Install the flooring parallel to incoming sunlight, if at all possible.

    • 4

Start on the left side of the room by trimming each plank to the estimated ideal width. Connect each plank end-to-end by angling each plank upward, then by pressing down. Use ¼ inch spacers between the flooring and the wall to allow for expansion.

    • 5

Install subsequent planks, working toward the right side of the room. Alternate each end seam so none of the seams line up. (Lining up end seams seriously undermines the integrity of the flooring.) Trim the flooring to length with a circular saw as needed.

Remove the spacers and reinstall the baseboards. Do not nail them to the flooring.
