Remove all items from your garage until it's empty. Use a broom to sweep out any dust and clutter, then dispose into a trash can (or use a vacuum). Use the flexible tape measure to get the dimensions needed for the carpet you want when you go to purchase it.
Lay out the old bed sheets to cover the floor to prevent paint stains.
Open the primer and mix with a flat wooden paint stick. Pour into the plastic paint tray and roll the paint brush into the primer. Apply onto the walls with an even coating and let it dry overnight. Re-seal the can of primer paint once you are done painting. Clean brushes with soap and water.
Use the blue painter's tape to mark off or line any borders or edges in places you don't want the paint to cover. Open your selected paint and mix with the flat wooden paint stick. Pour paint into a plastic paint tray.
Take a paint brush or roller brush and dip into the tray. Apply onto the walls with two coats of paint to even out the color surface. Wait another 24 hours for the paint to completely dry and before removing the old bed sheets protecting the floor.
Place all old bed sheets and materials from the painting process aside. Use a broom or vacuum to clean up any excess materials that may have been left behind. Make sure the floor surface is dried and cleaned entirely.
Roll out the carpet onto the floor and let it open up and flatten for an hour. Lay out two, 6" pieces of double-sided carpet tape in the shape of an "X" every 2 feet around the edges of the room. Fold half of the carpet back to access the tape.
Center the carpet on the floor. Use a utility knife to bisect any carpet corners that overlap the corners, cutting toward the center of the room to a point where the end of your cut is at the actual corner of the floor.
Repeat the process for all four corners until you are done. Use the utility knife to cut strips off any excess carpet. Discard the pieces into a trash bin. Carefully peel off the top side of the tape and apply the carpet firmly onto the tape with a carpet roller.
Put tools away and move your desired furniture into the room.
Apply carpet adhesive to the floor with the notched spreader. Carefully spread out the rolled carpet onto the adhesive and smooth any creases or bumps that appear using the carpet roller.
Using the utility knife, trim off any excess carpet that curls up from the floor where the carpet meets the walls.
Apply a seam adhesive to the entire periphery of the carpet to prevent loose seams from unraveling. Use the utility knife to cut off any frayed pieces.
Place a metal binder or aluminum threshold where the carpet meets the bottom of the entry door, if the floor of the house and the garage are flush with each other.
Put tools away and move your desired furniture into the room.
