Use windows and natural light when you can. Good shop organization ideas can save you money as well as make your projects go smoother. Use the natural light that comes through windows to help light some of your project steps. Place your work bench near the window so that when you paint or do woodworking, you can utilize the natural light and leave the artificial lights turned off. You may want to consider installing a skylight to help let in more natural light.
Arm's Length

Keep your favorite tools close to your workbench. Organize your workbench so that the tools you use most often are within an arm's length of the center of the bench. Try to group the tools together so that you know where to look for one of them. Install a peg board as the backboard to your workbench, and use pegs and hooks to keep your tools off of the workbench and easy to access.
Multi-Panel Tool Rack

Use a peg board rack to keep your tools organized. Mount a board to the wall of your shop and then attach peg boards to the board with hinges so that it looks like a large book. You can use this as a way to store your tools without taking up too much wall space, and you can also use this as a way to keep your tools organized. You can also hang supplies such as circular saw blades, circular sander pads and bungee cables from your peg board rack as well.
