How to Secure Computer Cabinets for Offices

A sturdy workstation in your office can increase your productivity. Whether you have a home office, or just a place to set your laptop, you can secure your computer cabinet to the wall so that it does not move when you are working. Whether you work on a small or large desk, the cabinet can be fastened to the wall using grabber screws. These can be purchased at any home improvement store.

  • Stud-finder
  • Pencil
  • Tape measure
  • Level
  • Wood shims
  • Grabber screws, 2 1/2-inch long

Instructions

      Slide the stud-finder horizontally along the wall where the computer cabinet will be mounted. When the stud-finder light comes on, mark the wall with a pencil. This indicates a stud.

      Place the computer cabinet into postion. If you want to center the cabinet in the room, use a tape measure to place the computer cabinet.

      Level the cabinet against the wall using a level. Place wood shims under the cabinet until it is level.

      Install two 1/2-inch long grabber screws through the back of the computer cabinet into the studs using a power drill. Place screws through the cabinet at each stud in the wall. This will fasten the cabinet to the wall.
