Guide to Buying Toilets

There are many features to look at when buying a new toilet. One of the most important things is water efficiency. New toilets have improved technology that will dramatically reduce the amount of water used with each flush.
  1. Water Use

    • Look for a toilet that uses less than 1.5 gallons per flush. The best option now is a dual-flush toilet, which uses less water for liquid waste than for solid waste.

    Size

    • Toilets come in different sizes and shapes. The standard height is about 15 inches, but if everyone in your family is tall, you can choose one with a height of about 17 inches. Also, a round bowl is better for a small space, while an elongated one is more comfortable.

    The Model

    • Toilets come in two-piece or one-piece models. A two-piece model is lighter and less expensive, but a one-piece model is much easier to clean because there is no gap between the bowl and the tank.
