How to Brace a Shaky Table

Shaky table legs cause the surface of the table to be unsteady, making it difficult to perform tasks on the table such as eating or working. Bracing a table’s legs will not only stop the legs from shaking — it will also make the table stronger and able to hold more weight. In order to apply table leg braces to the table, the legs need to be made out of wood.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the table upside down to give you better access to the legs.

    • 2

Measure the thickness of the legs, and get screws that are at least ¼ inch shorter than the thickness of the table legs.

    • 3

Measure the point on each table leg where the leg braces will connect. Mark the spot with chalk.

    • 4

Drill a hole in each place you marked. Make sure the hole is slightly smaller than the screws you are using.

    • 5

Place the leg braces over the holes in the table legs and fix the hardware in place. Tighten the screws in the holes with a screwdriver. Repeat the process on all the table legs.
