How to Troubleshoot a Takamaz GT Loader

The Takamaz GT is a heavy machine shop lathe manufactured by the Japanese company of the same name. The Takamaz GT is a single-spindle two-axis precision CNC lathe with a 4,500 rpm spindle. The GT loader of the lathe is the mechanism that automatically feeds pieces into the lathe for shaping. A broken loader will render the lathe useless. Troubleshooting and repairing the Takamaz GT takes anywhere from one to two hours.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the wire connections on the loader and make sure they are all plugged in. If the wiring harness is loose, plug the harness in tightly.

    • 2

Check the track that the loader runs on for dirt, debris or any other foreign object, such as metal shavings. Blow the track off with canned air and wipe the loader track down with a clean cloth.

    • 3

Reset the offsets for tool length if the cuts are too deep. Do this by sliding the offsets inward or outward slightly by hand if they have slid slightly out of alignment.

    • 4

Confirm that the loader door is fully shut before operating. If it isn't, an error code will appear. Clear the error code on the keypad, and then manually shut the door and start the loader.
