Lay the PEX tubing where needed, setting it flush against the foam-board surface. Cut the tubing at the end of the layout with a utility knife.
Load the PEX stapler with a line of PEX staples, following the stapler manufacturer’s instructions as to the loading method. Use 1 1/2-inch staples for 1-inch foam board, and 2 1/2-inch staples for 2-inch foam board.
Put on a pair of safety goggles to protect your eyes against possible staple breakage.
Place the groove on the base of the PEX stapler over the tubing about an inch from the start of the tube run. Hold the stapler so that it’s parallel to the surface of the foam board beneath the PEX tubing. Press downward on the stapler handle to drive a staple over the sides of the tube and through the foam board.
Move down the tube line about 10 inches, and then repeat the process. Continue in this manner, placing a staple every 10 inches along the line of tubing, until you reach the end.
