How to Take Care of a Ka-Bar Knife

Since 1898, Ka-Bar Knives Inc. has been manufacturing knives for use in the military, for hunting, as a utility knife or for outdoor survival. The knife goes through extensive inspection before it is sold. Depending on the age, model and condition of the knife, it can be valuable. Take proper care of your Ka-Bar knife to ensure it stays in good condition.

Soft cloths
Mild dishwashing soap
Mineral oil

Instructions

  Clean the blade after each use. Use a clean soft cloth that is completely dry and wipe down the blade. Use caution to avoid cutting yourself.

  Rinse the knife under tap water and wash it with a mild dishwashing soap, if it has debris on it that you cannot get off or if it was exposed to salt water. Dry the knife immediately after washing it by using a soft, dry cloth.

  Apply a light coat of mineral oil to each blade before storage. Do not store the blades in a sheath. Use the cardboard sleeve that came with the knife to protect the blade during storage. Keep the knife in a dry area.
