# How to Unlock a Tool Box
Simple jobs can be impossible to complete without having the right tool available, so knowing how to unlock a tool box can be the difference between a job well done and a task that can not be completed. Tools are valuable and can be expensive, which means that they are often targets of theft. This is the reason why toolboxes come equipped with lock slots. A tool that is locked away is only valuable if you can access it.

Flip up both latches, one on each side of the lock. With the latches in the upward position, flip the metal wire loops that are connected to the clasps down. The metal loops resemble the straps on a pair of overalls.

Insert the key or enter the combination of the lock connected to the tool box. Toolboxes come built with a center hole where you can place a lock to secure your tools. The lock is not included.

Pull down on the lock to open it and remove it from the center hole. Open the lid, some tool boxes have an additional metal latch that needs to be lifted up before the lid can be opened.
