The Best Way to Organize Sockets & Ratchets

  Determine the size of your tool chest drawer where the socket organizer will be housed by measuring the width, depth and height of its interior with a measuring tape.

If you purchase a standup organizer (the sockets stand up instead of clipping into place on their side), make sure the holes are on the top side, not resting on the bottom of the drawer.

  Insert your sockets by size and type, grouping metric and standard sockets separately from smallest to largest. Additionally, group the extension arms, reducers and other miscellaneous components in similar groups for quick access.

  Label each hole with the size or component abbreviation, using a permanent marker. This ensures you always place the same socket component in the same hole, so you can enjoy a highly organized socket set.
