DIY Shop Dust Extractor

Secure a T-hose fitting onto the dust evacuation port on the back of each of your bench-mounted woodworking tools. This is accomplished by placing the base of the "T" over the mounting sleeve and tightening the compression band on the T-fitting with a screwdriver.

Run a hose from each T-fitting to the next T-fitting in line. These hoses press into position---you do not need a compression band to attach them. At the end of the line, attach the final run of tubing from the final T-fitting to the intake duct of the shop vacuum. Ensure that the vacuum has a dust filter in place, otherwise the dust will simply blow out of the vacuum's exhaust duct.

Plug the first T-fitting's open arm to raise the suction available for the tools in the shop. This can be done with a specially purchased fitting or simply by closing the hole with duct tape.

Turn on the vacuum to test the suction power of each of the tools. You will be able to feel the draw of the vacuum through the base of the tool by holding your hand next to the tool where the wood is cut, shaped, sanded or drilled.
