How to Use a Fence Fork

A fence fork consists of two curved metal prongs set in a handle. It is used with special clips to secure a section of a wire fence to a post. The tool efficiently wraps a clip around the wire and the post. It speeds up the process of installing these types of fences and prevents fatigue as well as scratches from the wire. A fence fork also allows you to detach the fence connections with little effort.

Instructions

    • 1

Walk to the first post where the wire is unsecured. Hold the wire up to the area of the post where you want to attach it. Place a metal fence fork clip behind the post with its two hooks extending out on your side of the fence. Slip the hooks of the clip over the wire.

    • 2

Hold the fence fork with the tines pointing down and toward you. Insert the tines behind the wire and through the hooks of the clip.

    • 3

Pull the handle of the fence fork all the way down until it is parallel to the fence. Remove the fence fork from the hooks of the clip.

    • 4

Repeat the process to attach the wire to each remaining fence post in the same manner.
