How Do I Load a Pneumatic Stapler?

Although loading procedures vary according to tool make and model, many pneumatic staplers accept strips of staples from the underside of a thin, rectangular cartridge. Released with the press of button or tab, a clip falls from the underside of the cartridge, revealing a channel that conforms to the size of manufacturer-approved staples. Choosing the right variety of staples is important; failure to load a gun with recommended fasteners can damage or destroy the tool's internal components.

Instructions

    • 1

Point the stapler away from your body and from surrounding workers. Disconnect the stapler from the air supply hose.

    • 2

Release the stapler's clip by depressing, pushing or pulling the tab or button at the bottom of the tool's cartridge. Slide the clip away from the cartridge to reveal the inner channel or "rail." If staples remain in the channel, clear staples from the channel.

    • 3

Fit a new strip of staples onto the clip's channel. Orient staples according to manufacturer's guidelines; placing staples backward can damage the tool or cause personal injury.

    • 4

Push the clip back into the cartridge until the clip snaps into position. Reattach the air hose to the pneumatic stapler.
