How to Figure and Measure Linear Feet

Determining a precise linear footage measurement is important when measuring for certain home repair projects or if you are bidding certain jobs as a contractor. These jobs include carpet purchase and installation, painting, bricklaying and paving. Linear footage means exactly what it sounds like -- the project's length in feet. Luckily, there are tools available to make measuring large jobs easier than using a standard measuring tape, which is only 25 feet long and can require a partner to use accurately.
