How to Clean a Campbell Hausfeld AL 2300

The Campbell Hausfeld company began in 1836 as a manufacturer of horse-drawn wagons. Today, the company manufactures a variety of air tools, including compressors, air-driven nail guns, and paint sprayers. The airless paint sprayers produced by Campbell Hausfeld, including the model AL 2300, must be flushed with cleaning solvent before and after each use to prevent clogging due to paint particle buildup.

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare a container of cleaning solvent so that it is sitting flat on the floor and ready to hold cleaning tubes. Position a large, empty bucket next to the sprayer to collect cleaning fluid.

    • 2

Unscrew the inlet valve cap from the front of the pump assembly and set aside. Test the mobility of the inlet valve stem by pressing with a finger. Locate the outlet prime button on the bottom face of the pump assembly and depress three times.

    • 3

Press the bypass tube and suction assembly into place on the front face of the pump assembly. Insert the bottom of the tube and suction assembly into the cleaning solvent.

    • 4

Turn the pressure control knob, located on the right face of the pump assembly, clockwise until it stops to set the pressure to "High." Locate the prime/spray control above the pressure control and dial to the horizontal "Prime" position.

    • 5

Locate the power switch on the bottom of the pump assembly and switch on. Allow the pump to run for 60 seconds. Dial the prime/spray control to the vertical "Spray" position and place the spray tip in the clean position.

    • 6

Point the nozzle of the sprayer into the collection bucket along the inside wall and depress the trigger, holding for 30 seconds to one minute to completely flush the sprayer.

    • 7

Remove the suction assembly and bypass tube from the cleaning solvent and continue spraying into the bucket until all solvent has been flushed from the assembly. Discard cleaning solvent according to the manufacturer's instructions.
