Reversing the direction of a drill takes only a couple seconds and can be done without any tools. The drill uses a directional switch in front of the trigger guard to set the direction for the bit to turn. Forward causes the bit to turn clockwise, while reverse makes it to turn counterclockwise. If the drill bit gets bound up in the material you are drilling, it is best to reverse the direction of the bit and pull it out slowly while the drill is turning. This will prevent snapping the bit.
