How to Run a Concrete Vibrator

Concrete vibrators are used to settle concrete. Freshly poured concrete contains air pockets and air bubbles. Concrete vibrators typically are used along the inside edges of the forms. Vibrating along the edge of the concrete forms settles the rock in the concrete. This results in a nicer-looking finish. Concrete tool manufacturers produce both gas-powered and electrically powered concrete vibrators.

Instructions

    • 1

Pour concrete into the form. You want about one foot of concrete in the form before you begin to vibrate it. Place the vibrator head into the concrete.

    • 2

Pull the trigger on the vibrator. Push the head of the vibrator deep into the concrete. Move the vibrator head up and down in the concrete. Continue to vibrate in one spot for about 10 seconds. Keep the vibrator about three to four inches away from the inside edge of the concrete form.

    • 3

Vibrate along the edge of the concrete form. Vibrate at intervals of about 12 to 18 inches apart. Overlap the vibrated areas as you work. Vibrate the entire perimeter of the form.
