Ch7045 Amp Clamp Instructions

Amp clamps enable you to measure the amps in a system through a relatively noninvasive method. The amp clamp has a spring-loaded clamp that clips onto any cable and measures the impedance of the current in the cable. The advantage of using this tool is that you only have to access a single cable. The amp clamps are more accurate than other current measuring methods. Miller Tools manufactures the Ch7045 amp clamp.

Instructions

  1. AC/DC Current Readings

    • 1

Turn the selection wheel on the handle of the amp clamp to read AAC or ADC current, depending on the reading you need.

    • 2

Place the clamp around the cable. Center the cable in the middle of the circle created by the clamps for the best results.

    • 3

Take the reading from the LCD screen.

    Reading Voltage

    • 4

Use the read and black test leads for a voltage reading. Plug the red test lead into the positive "V" terminal of the system, then plug the black lead into the negative "COM" terminal.

    • 5

Turn the function wheel to the VAC or VDC position, depending on what reading you need.

    • 6

Connect the leads to the circuit in parallel. The voltage measurement will be displayed on the LCD screen.
