How to Troubleshoot Hitachi NR83A2 Nail Guns

The NR83A2 framing nailer from Hitachi is a lightweight nailer that operates via air actuation. The NR83A2 is designed for easy removal of jammed nails and features parts designed for minimal wear. Troubleshooting the NR83A2 can be accomplished easily, even by novice users, by verifying the proper setup and observing the parts for wear and damage.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove any jammed nails if the nailer fails to drive a nail during operation. Verify proper nailer lubrication and nail selection. Remove the ribbon spring and install a new spring if the problem persists.

    • 2

Verify proper air pressure supply, up to 120 pounds per inch, if the nailer does not drive nails firmly. Check for excessive wear on the driver blade and piston O-ring if the problem persists.

    • 3

Verify proper air pressure and reduce as necessary if the nailer drives nails too far into wood.

    • 4

Verify proper nail selection and nailer lubrication if the nailer is skipping. Check the ribbon spring and piston O-ring for damage, and replace as necessary if the problem persists.

    • 5

Verify proper nail selection if the nailer jams repeatedly or drives bent nails. Check the driver blade for damage or wear, and replace as necessary if the problem persists.

    • 6

Verify proper air hose sizing if the nails do not drive further at increased air pressure.
